Centre's Measures for COVID-19 Preparedness
The central government is conducting mock drills to evaluate readiness at healthcare facilities. States have been instructed to ensure that oxygen supplies, isolation beds, ventilators, and essential medicines are readily available. Most current cases are mild and being managed at home.
On June 2 and 3, Dr. Sunita Sharma led high-level review meetings as Director General of Health Services (DGHS). These sessions aimed to assess the ongoing COVID-19 situation and preparedness measures across India.
Participation from Key Health Bodies
The meetings included key health organisations such as the Disaster Management Cell and Emergency Management Response (EMR) Cell. The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) also participated.
Representatives from Central Government Hospitals in Delhi joined state and Union Territory officials in these discussions. They focused on evaluating current COVID-19 management strategies and ensuring effective preventive measures nationwide.
