Court Summons Arvind Kejriwal On February 17 Over 'Yamuna Water Poisoned' Remark
Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), addressed the Election Commission on Wednesday regarding the contamination of Yamuna River water. This response came after the Election Commission requested evidence from Kejriwal to support his claim that Haryana is polluting the Yamuna River. The commission also reminded him of legal consequences for making statements that could harm national unity and public peace.
The Election Commission highlighted the gravity of Kejriwal's allegations. He had claimed that Haryana's actions were akin to poisoning Delhi residents and compared it to nuclear and biological warfare. The commission noted that Delhi Jal Board engineers detected this issue before it affected Delhi's water supply, underscoring the seriousness of these accusations.

Water Contamination Concerns
Kejriwal, in his letter, insisted that no laws or codes were violated. He urged the Election Commission to address the critical issue of safe water availability. He requested directives for Haryana to ensure a safe water supply for Delhi's citizens, emphasizing the importance of this intervention.
According to Kejriwal, a letter from the Delhi Jal Board identified untreated domestic and industrial waste discharge into the Yamuna River as the contamination source. This pollution has led to a significant public health crisis. He stressed that stopping these activities is crucial and that upstream authorities must ensure Delhi's water remains safe.
