Delhi court rejects Gopal Goyal Kanda's bail extension plea

Additional Sessions Judge M.C. Gupta declined to extend the interim bail earlier given till October 4 to Kanda, who has been in custody for the past 13 months. He had surrendered before the court on Aug 18, 2012.
Kanda, who represents Sirsa in the Haryana assembly, had been given bail for a month to attend the state assembly. He had later moved an application for extension of the interim bail.
His co-accused and employee, Aruna Chadha, is also out on interim bail till Nov 15.
The Delhi Police had also moved the Delhi High court for quashing of the trial court's order granting them bail.
Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha are accused of abetting the suicide of a 23-year-old former air hostess. The two have denied the allegations. The suicide note of the victim, who ended her life on the night of August 4 2012, accused Kanda and Chaddha of harassing her.
Kanda has been charged with rape, abetment to rape and suicide, criminal conspiracy and forgery and under the IT Act for hacking computers and sending offensive or false messages.
