Probe widens

Crime branch officials say that there is some evidence to suggest that the same team of people had leaked information from the power and coal ministry. During the questioning of these persons information relating to the power and coal ministries had come to light, investigators also say.

While the number of persons arrested has gone up to seven, the police say more arrests are likely to take place. We are investigating names within corporate houses who had facilitated this act.

The police have got the custody of four persons arrested while the three others have been sent to judicial custody by the court.

What documents were leaked

The police say that the documents that could have gone out of the power and coal ministries are similar to the one in the petroleum ministry. Documents regarding pricing, presentation and also policy decisions were leaked.

The officer part of the investigation also informed that they would be taking the arrested persons to the respective ministries and would bring them face to face with the other officials. We feel there are many more within the ministries who could have been part of this operation.
