Controversial godman Rampal accuses Hisar jail Super of harassment

Hisar, Aug 22: Self-styled Godman-Rampal-who was held on charges of fraud last November has now levied harassment charges on the jail superintended. Rampal has now requested the court to displace him to adifferent jail as the superintend here was demanding a bribe of RS 50 lakh and cutting off the basic supplies like electricity and water.

Accusing the jailer, he said he was not allowed to shave off his beard, snapping the power connection and throwing water at him.

Rampal said,"I am being harassed by the jailer Shamsher Singh after I refused to bribe him. He is not allowing me to meet my advocate. He has snapped the power connection and not letting me shave off my beard. I have requested the court to shift me to another jail."

He also said that the jailer does not allow him to meet his advocate and supporters, which delayed his court replies. He also said that the police has slapped "outrageous" cases against him and has not proceeded with the challan or hearing.

In response to his plea, the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notice to the Haryana government and has directed it to reply by September 28. Rampal was arrested last year on November 19 on charges of attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and illegal detention and rioting.
