Conman Fraudulently Sells Deceased Man's SUV Using Fake No Objection Certificate in Azamgarh

A conman in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly committed fraud by acquiring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for an SUV using the identity of a deceased man. The vehicle was then sold to another person, according to police reports on Friday. This incident has prompted an investigation by local authorities, and the suspect has been charged.

The complaint was filed by Alka Dubey from Surhurpur Jafti village in Ghazipur district. She reported that her late husband, Sunil Dubey, owned a Mahindra Bolero. Sunil passed away on October 18, 2023. However, four months after his death, someone impersonated him to fraudulently obtain an NOC and sell the vehicle.

Fraudulent Activity Uncovered

Upon receiving Alka's complaint, the Azamgarh Regional Transport Office (RTO) swiftly cancelled the NOC and initiated legal action against the impersonator. Alka also raised the issue with the transport department and lodged a complaint through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System portal.

RTO Enforcement Officer RN Chaudhary stated, "The matter came to my attention, and we have cancelled the NOC. An FIR has been filed against the individual involved in the fraud, and an explanation has been sought from the clerk concerned." This highlights the seriousness with which authorities are treating this case.

Resolution Efforts

Officials have advised Alka to re-register the vehicle in her name. Coordination with the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) in Ghazipur ensured that the registration process was completed smoothly. The vehicle's Registration Certificate (RC) has now been handed over to Alka.

This incident underscores the importance of vigilance in handling official documents and identities. Authorities are working diligently to resolve this case and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
