Congress wins in Karnataka where EVMs were used. Will the party complain now?
After the severe loss of face in recent elections, the Congress on Thursday had some reason to smile. The ruling party in Karnataka managed to gain a thumping victory retaining both assembly constituency seats. All that aside, it may be noted that EVMs were used in the Gundlupet and Nanjangud assembly constituencies where the Congress destroyed the BJP.
For a party that has been making multiple representations to the election commission and joining the chorus of 15 other parties alleging EVM tampering, no such complaints were heard after its massive victory in Karnataka. Does the Congress now believe that EVMs can not be tampered with or has the party decided to selectively outrage over EVMs used in polls where the Congress was defeated?

Even as its own leaders such as Veerappa Moily defended the EVMs, the Congress continued to make representations including to the President of India over EVM tampering allegations. The party today rejoices its victory in Karnataka where bypolls were held on the very same EVM machines.
It is to be seen if the Congress, after the victory in Karnataka, continues to criticise EVM machines. If it does, then would the party consider the results of Nanjangud and Gundlupet void and if it does not, would that mean that the grand old party is being selective in its criticism. While VVPAT machines along with EVMs were used in the bypoll, at least two machines malfunctioned and had to be replaced by polling officers during the bypoll.
