Congress using farmers' plight to relaunch Rahul Gandhi: BJP
Dharamsala, Apr 29: BJP MP Shanta Kumar on Wednesday said that Congress was using the plight of the farmers to relaunch Rahul Gandhi and that the party was opposing the land Bill "for the sake of opposing".
"Congress is using the present plight of the farmers of the country to relaunch Rahul Gandhi, who is back from a two months absence. The farmers of the country, who are at present in a bad condition due to long negligence by the governments and unpredicted weather conditions, is being misused by the opposition," he said.
Kumar alleged the Congress is opposing the Land Acquisition Bill for the sake of opposing. [Rahul Gandhi's takes a swipe at PM Modi, says PM should meet farmers during his India visit]
"PM Narendra Modi has openly invited the amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill and the government is ready for any change. Nine amendments have already been made, then why the opposition is adamant on it? Congress is opposing the Bill just for the sake of opposing," the former CM said.
Kumar arrived here from New Delhi to review the arrangements for the two-day executive committee meeting of Himachal Pradesh BJP unit to be held in Dharamsala from Thursday.
