Congress Unveils 7 Key Pre-Poll Promises In Rajasthan Election Bid | Details Here

As the countdown is on for polling for the Rajasthan election on November 25, 2023, the political atmosphere in the state has been heating up. The incumbent Congress party, led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, is gearing up to secure a second term in power. In a press conference held on Tuesday, Chief Minister Gehlot outlined the party's seven-point agenda for the upcoming assembly elections, slated to take place on November 25, with 200 seats up for grabs.

Gehlot criticised the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that they have failed to articulate a clear agenda for the elections, all the while grappling with internal discord.
The Chief Minister did not shy away from taking a swipe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that he lacks an understanding of the genuine issues facing the state. Amit Shah had previously conducted three rallies in Nagaur.

Gehlot disclosed that the Congress party is offering seven significant guarantees to the people of the state in the run-up to the elections. These guarantees, he noted, would be backed by the establishment of guarantee camps if the Congress government secures power after the elections. Gehlot's plan entails setting up one thousand guarantee camps across Rajasthan, aiming to reach out to two crore individuals.

The Congress party's seven guarantees, as outlined by Gehlot, include:

  • An annual honorarium of Rs 10,000 for female heads of households.
  • Subsidised cooking gas cylinders for 1.05 crore families.
  • Purchase of cattle dung at a rate of Rs 2 per kilogram.
  • Reinstatement of the old pension scheme for government employees.
  • Distribution of laptops and tablets to students enrolling in government colleges.
  • Insurance coverage of up to Rs 15 lakh per family to compensate for losses due to natural calamities.
  • Introduction of school education in the English medium.

Gehlot accused the BJP of misleading the people of the state and emphasised that the election campaign in Rajasthan should focus on the state's actual issues.

In response to Amit Shah's statements during his rallies, Gehlot questioned Shah's familiarity with the state's issues, asserting that he seemed out of touch.

Furthermore, Gehlot took a firm stance against the Central Government for the recent enforcement directorate (ED) raids in the state. He accused the Modi government of exploiting central agencies to target Congress leaders for political reasons.
Gehlot emphasised, "They have the ED, and we have seven guarantees."

The Chief Minister also took aim at Rajvardhan Singh Rathore, who has publicly criticised Congress. Gehlot alleged that Rathore was unable to campaign effectively in his own constituency. Rathore had previously labelled Congress leadership as 'Anti-National' and 'selfish.'

To garner support for his campaign, Gehlot organised a roadshow in Rajasthan to ensure that the seven guarantees were well-known among the electorate. He is leaving no stone unturned to maximise voter turnout and secure victory in the upcoming assembly elections.
