Congress Slams Bihar Govt After 21 Houses Of Dalits Set On Fire

Congress slammed Bihar's Nitish Kumar government after a shocking incident unfolded in Nawada District. According to the reports, a scuffle between two groups took place, after which, around 21 thatched homes were set on fire. All these thatched homes belonged to the people of schedule caste. It has been learned that motive behind this arson was reportedly to seize vacant government land.

The police reported that the incident occurred at Krishna Nagar Mahadalit settlements under Muffasil police station around 6:45 pm. Although houses in 80 Mahadalit settlements were destroyed, no injuries were reported. Firefighters managed to control the blaze by 11 pm, while the district administration arranged alternative housing for those affected.

Arrests Made Following Arson Incident

Nandu Paswan, a local resident, along with nine others, was arrested by Nawada police. Superintendent of Police (Nawada), Abhinav Dhiman, stated: "We have arrested one Nandu Paswan, a resident of Pran Bigaha village, and nine others on arson and other charges. We will soon ascertain the motive behind the incident."

Gautam Kumar, another local resident, shared his experience: "Nandu Paswan and his associates had opened fire in the air to terrorise us before they torched our houses." This statement highlights the fear instilled in the community prior to the arson attack.

Background of Krishna Nagar Settlements

Approximately 400 people from Scheduled Castes reside in Krishna Nagar Mahadalit settlements. These communities have been established for 70-80 years. Most residents are daily wage earners who rely on their modest incomes for survival.

Local police sources revealed that Nandu Paswan was involved in property dealings and had previously attempted to evict residents from the Mahadalit settlement. His aim was allegedly to acquire government land unlawfully for personal gain.

The district administration is working diligently to provide shelter for those whose homes were completely destroyed in this tragic event. Efforts are underway to ensure that affected families receive necessary support during this difficult time.
