Congress Punjab unit chief Partap Singh Bajwa resigns
New Delhi, Nov 26: Congress Punjab unit president Partap Singh Bajwa and Congress Legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar have resigned from their posts, party general secretary Shakeel Ahmad said on Thursday.
"Bajwa and Jakhar have resigned. Their resignations were accepted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to facilitate further reshuffle in the party's Punjab unit," Ahmad told IANS.

The development came days after party vice president Rahul Gandhi visited Punjab amid factionalism in the state unit.
Some leaders in the party are demanding appointment of former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh as state unit chief before the state goes to the polls in 2017.
