New Delhi: Lok Sabha MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Wednesday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should not be afflicted with "Congress phobia" as no one can eliminate the grand old party from India.
BJP Thanks PM Modi for Wiping Out Congress
Chowdhury's remarks came during a discussion on the Finance Bill in the Lok Sabha, where BJP member Dilip Saikia expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "wiping out" the Congress. Saikia claimed that Congress symbolized corruption in the Northeast and that the prime minister had provided guardianship to the region, which previous governments had neglected.
Chowdhury Advises BJP Not to Waste Time Abusing Congress
In response to Saikia's comments, Chowdhury, the leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, advised the treasury benches not to waste their time criticizing or abusing the Congress. He emphasized that the Congress remains and will continue to exist, and no one can eradicate it from India.
Chowdhury Criticizes Idea of 'Viksit Bharat'
Chowdhury also criticized the concept of "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India), describing it as an amorphous idea lacking any concrete shape, odor, or intellectual foundation. He asserted that the current government promotes this idea to convince people they are living in a fictitious paradise.
Chowdhury's remarks highlight the ongoing political discourse in India, with the Congress and BJP frequently engaging in verbal sparring. Despite facing challenges, Chowdhury expressed confidence in the Congress's resilience and its ability to endure as a significant political force in the country.
