Congress Only Served 'Jumlas' To End Poverty: PM Modi In Parliament
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the debate on Constitution in the Lok Sabha, criticised the Congress for its neglect of essential and basic needs. He accused them of ignoring basic needs such as clean water and financial inclusion during their tenure. Modi questioned if the Constitution had ever stopped previous administrations from addressing these issues.
"Eighty percent of Indians were deprived of clean water," PM Modi remarked, highlighting the lack of action by past governments. He emphasised that his administration has taken significant steps to ensure households receive clean water, aiming to correct this oversight.

Financial Inclusion Efforts
Modi also addressed the issue of financial access, pointing out that many citizens had never visited a bank before his government took charge. "Today, 50 crore poor people have bank accounts because of our government's initiatives," he stated, showcasing the success of their financial inclusion programs.
In his speech, PM Modi criticised Congress for frequently using the term "jumla" but claimed that the biggest "jumla" was perpetuated by a single family over generations. He referred to the 'Garibi Hatao' movement as an example of this.
Swachh Bharat Mission
The Prime Minister also highlighted his government's efforts to improve sanitation through initiatives like the Swachh Bharat mission. "For the dignity of poor, it was my government that began with the construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat mission," PM Modi added, stressing their commitment to enhancing living conditions for the underprivileged.
Throughout his address, PM Modi underscored his administration's dedication to addressing long-standing issues neglected by previous governments. By focusing on providing clean water and expanding financial access, he aimed to demonstrate tangible improvements in citizens' lives.
The Prime Minister's remarks in Parliament served as both a critique of past governance and a defence of his government's policies. By highlighting these achievements, he sought to reinforce public confidence in his administration's ability to deliver essential services effectively.
