In a significant development, the Haryana government has informed the High Court that Congress MLA Mamman Khan has been named an accused in a First Information Report (FIR) lodged following the violent incidents that took place in Nuh on August 31. The government's assertion is based on substantial evidence including phone call records available with the police.

The revelation came to light during a court hearing on Thursday, September 14. Hours after this announcement, there were unconfirmed reports of Khan being taken into custody. However, Satish Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police at Ferozepur Jhirka did not confirm these reports when contacted for further details.

Evidence Properly Evaluated

Haryana’s Additional Advocate General Deepak Sabharwal informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that Khan was officially named an accused in the case on September 4. This decision was made after all evidence against him had been "properly evaluated". Sabharwal later told reporters outside the court premises that there was ample evidence against Khan which substantiated their move.

Protection from Arrest Sought

Mamman Khan who represents Ferozepur Jhirka constituency moved to court earlier this week seeking protection from arrest. He claimed he was being unfairly implicated in a case related to an incident when he wasn’t even present in Nuh on the day violence broke out.

Khan Unaware of Being Named In FIR

The MLA’s counsel briefed reporters after the hearing saying that it was only now that Khan had come to know about his name being included in the FIR lodged post-Nuh violence. According to his counsel, while no immediate relief or protection from arrest was granted by court, it advised Khan could seek appropriate remedy for protection of his liberty in accordance with law.

In conclusion, the naming of Congress MLA Mamman Khan as an accused in the Nuh violence case marks a significant turn of events. The Haryana government's assertion that they possess substantial evidence against Khan adds a new dimension to this ongoing investigation. While it remains to be seen how this development impacts Khan’s political career and the overall dynamics within the state's political landscape, it is clear that this issue has added another layer of complexity to an already tense situation.
