Congress Leader P Chidambaram Fell Unconscious At Sabarmati Ashram; Hospitalised

Due to heat and exhaustion, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Tuesday fell unconscious while visiting Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat's Ahmedabad, after which he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The 75-year-old Congressman went to attend an event at shram, where Mahatma Gandhi lived and fought for India's freedom struggle. Other Congress leaders who accompanied the P Chidambaram quickly held their leader and put him in an ambulance. A video shared by ANI shows Congress leaders taking P Chidambaram to an Ambulance.

Talking to the media, a Congress leader said that because of the 40 degrees and heatwaves going on in Ahmedabad, senior leader's health deteriorated.

Heat exhaustion or heat strokes occur when a person loses too much water and salt, can be particularly hazardous if left untreated.

Another official stated that Mr Chidambaram was taken to the hospital immediately, where he received medical attention, and he is in a better condition now.
