Deve Gowda campaigns for JDS candidate in RR Nagar constituency
JDS supremo and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda campaigned for the party candidate from Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency on Saturday. The election for the constituency will be held on May 28.
While campaigning for JD(S) candidate, GH Ramachandra, Deve Gowda said, "As party President, it's my responsibility to campaign for my candidate. I don't want to meddle with the coalition government, it'll continue without any obstruction."
The Congress and JDS alliance is unlikely to continue in the election for Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency. The election for the constituency was postponed by the Election Commission due to electoral malpractices.
According to reports, Janata Dal (Secular) has not yet decided on extending support to Congress candidate Muniratna Naidu. JDS had instructed its candidate GH Ramchandra to be prepared for any decision. CM Kumaraswamy held discussions with the party leaders till Thursday night regarding the issue. Kumaraswamy is unlikely to extend support to Muniratna who is facing charges in connection with the seizure of voter cards.
In an exclusive conversation with Times Now, Congress leader DK Shivakumar said that they have requested JD(S) to support Congress candidates in Rajarajeshwarinagar and Jayanagar assembly constituencies elections and he hopes that JDS will also understand the actual position.
With barely three days left for the elections in Rajarajeshwarinagar, JD(S) leaders appealed to the Congress leaders to support its candidate in the constituency.
