Congress is at its "historic low", lesser than regional party: BJP
New Delhi, May 19: Riding high on its impressive show in the Assembly polls and poor performance by Congress, BJP today attacked the opposition party claiming that today's results have brought Congress to an "all-time low and its standing has become less than that of a regional party".
The BJP Parliamentary party, in a resolution, also asserted that its political graph is at an "all-time high" as it cited its maiden victory in Assam and double-digit vote percentage in Kerala and West Bengal.

It said that Congress' strategy to pursue "fringe and disruptive politics" in Parliament was only for political reasons and opposition to the development agenda of the BJP government, which has been rejected by the people in the four large states of Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Kerala.
"During the last 60 years, Congress has only promoted the political culture of misgovernance and corruption and the people of India are thoroughly disillusioned. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the people defeated Congress and in the assembly elections also they have rejected their policies. This has brought Congress down electorally to a historic all time low while the position of BJP is at an all time high.
"The electoral standing of Congress has been reduced to less than regional parties whilst BJP has successfully emerged as a national party with ever growing presence in all parts of the country," the resolution adopted by the party at a meeting of the Parliamentary Board here said.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and other members. The statement added that the latest election results are an "endorsement by the people of the development and welfare programmes of the central government led by Modi, which are focused on inclusive growth of all sections of society."
It said the "absolute majority" of BJP in Assam symbolises the growing strength of the party in the North East and recognises its pan India presence.
