Congress includes Vajpayee quote on Nehru in conference website

New Delhi, Nov 11: The Congress, which has not invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to international conference it is hosting on Jawaharlal Nehru Nov 17-18, has, however, included a quotation from former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the special website launched for the event.

The website "nehruinternationalconference2014.com" takes a visitor through Nehru's life, his writings, his quotes and some of his famous speeches.

The website has quotes on Nehru by famous personalities including Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, as well as Vajpayee, India's first non-Congress prime minister to complete a full-term. Vajpayee had headed the previous National Democratic Alliance government.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader has been described as "an Indian statesman."

"He was an advocate of individual freedom and yet was committed to bringing about economic equality. He was never afraid of a compromise with anybody, but he never compromised with anyone out of fear," it quoted Vajpayee as saying about Nehru.
