Congress in UP to protest against increased power tariff

Lucknow, Oct 13:

will hold state-wide protests against the state government for "increased" power tariff and "pending" dues of sugarcane farmers later this month.

"All the city and district units of the party have been directed to organise protests at the district headquarters against increased power tariffs on October 15," chairman of party's communication department Satyadev Tripathi said.

UP Congress chief Nirmal Khatri will lead one such protest in Ambedkarnagar district, Tripathi said.

On the issue of pending sugarcane dues of farmers, a grand protest will be held on October 17 at Basti and on October 18 at Muzaffarnagar, Tipathi said adding that AICC general secretary and incharge of state affairs, Madhusudan Mistri and Khatri will lead both the protests.
