Congress Criticises PM Modi For Not Visiting Manipur

Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday for choosing to visit Assam instead of its neighboring state, Manipur, which has been dealing with ethnic tension since May of the previous year.

Using social media platform X, Khera shared a screenshot displaying available flights on Monday (February 5) between Guwahati and Imphal, along with their respective prices.

"Dear PMO India. If Himanta (Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma) can book a chopper for you then it is fne, otherwise here is the list of lights between Guwahati and Imphal tomorrow. Please let us know if we need to make the booking," Pawan Khera said in a post on X.

Another Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also criticized the Prime Minister for choosing to visit Assam over Manipur. Ramesh shared a piece of news article about Manipur's Chief Minister N Biren Singh meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday (February 3). The Congress veteran described the BJP's absence in Manipur as "a grave injustice."

Jairam Ramesh said, "9 months to the day and yet no meeting with the PM who continues to maintain total silence on Manipur. The PM goes to Guwahati for a road show but cannot and will not go to Imphal. A horrific ANYAY by the PM on the people of Manipur".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated several development projects worth Rs 11,000 crore in Assam. In Guwahati, PM Modi addressed a sea of supporters and wooed them ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024. PM Modi was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma.
