Congress to Host Convention in Hassan on December 5 to Promote Constitutional Awareness
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced that the Congress will organise a convention on 5 December in Hassan to uphold the Constitution. This decision was made after a preparatory meeting at the KPCC office, where Shivakumar, who also leads the state Congress, mentioned that many party leaders are keen on hosting this event in Hassan.

Shivakumar stated that all ministers and district in-charges are actively preparing for the convention. He noted that various organisations and communities have shown their support for this initiative. "AICC leaders have directed us to organise a programme on protection of the Constitution and developments in the country. We held a preparatory meeting at KPCC office with the leaders and office bearers of four districts. All leaders of the party will be invited to the convention," he added.
Constitutional Awareness and Upcoming Events
The convention aims to raise awareness against misinformation targeting the state government. Shivakumar emphasised that they will invite individuals who advocate for constitutional values. Additionally, Congress plans to hold events in Sandur and Shiggavi to thank voters for supporting their candidates in recent assembly bypolls.
A similar gathering is planned for Channapatna, where Congress candidate C P Yogeeshwara secured a win in the assembly bye-election. These events are part of Congress's strategy to strengthen its connection with constituents and acknowledge their electoral success.
Future Plans and Election Preparations
Regarding upcoming elections, Shivakumar mentioned that Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections are scheduled soon. "The elections will be held soon. We have discussed this in the Cabinet meeting. We are preparing for elections in February next year," he stated, indicating preparations are underway for these elections expected early next year.
When asked about holding similar conventions statewide, Shivakumar confirmed plans for a larger programme in Belagavi following the Hassan event. More details about this programme will be shared after an upcoming meeting.
On the topic of Cabinet expansion, Shivakumar clarified his role, stating, "I am only the KPCC president and Deputy CM, and not a CM. There is no discussion on that right now and there is no need as well. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already replied to this question." This indicates no immediate plans for changes within the Cabinet structure.
Overall, these initiatives reflect Congress's efforts to engage with supporters while addressing constitutional concerns and preparing for future electoral challenges.
