Congress's Bhajabal Majhi First to File Nomination for Odisha Elections

In a significant development marking the onset of the election season in Odisha, Congress candidate Bhajabal Majhi and BJP candidate Manoranjan Dyan Samantray have initiated the nomination filing process for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, respectively. On Thursday, Bhajabal Majhi became the first Lok Sabha nominee in Odisha to submit his nomination papers, as confirmed by poll officials. Candidates will have until April 29 to withdraw their nominations.

Accompanied by a group of supporters, Majhi approached the collectorate to submit his papers to District Election Officer and Collector Kamal Lochan Mishra. Having previously secured victory in three assembly elections from Dabugam assembly seat, Majhi is now venturing into the Lok Sabha election arena for the first time. Post-nomination, he expressed confidence in Congress's prospects, emphasizing the electorate's desire for governmental change at both state and central levels. Majhi is optimistic about Congress securing victory in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat and its seven assembly segments.

Conversely, Manoranjan Dyan Samantray steps into the electoral fray as a newcomer. His participation signifies a fresh face in Odisha's political landscape, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Chikiti assembly seat.
