Congress backing Third Front "from behind": Uma Bharti

"Congress has realised that it will be ousted from power at the Centre, and therefore, with the aim of spreading instability and lawlessness, it is supporting Third Front from behind," she said, talking to reporters here.
It wanted to create hurdles in BJP's way, she added. However, people were now fed up with the coalition governments who were ruling the country since 1989, Bharti claimed.

As the country was facing problems such as Naxalism, terrorism, corruption, infiltration and strained relations with foreign countries, a strong one-party government headed by a powerful leader was needed which only BJP could provide, she said. "In view of this situation, people on their own are supporting Narendra Modi."
The Third Front came up just before the polls because of the growing popularity of Modi, she said. "Otherwise it should have emerged at least two years ago." But people "understand everything", she added.
The senior BJP leader said Congress will suffer because of the emergence of AAP and the Third Front, while BJP will certainly gain as it will lead to polarisation of votes.
Saying that Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi was no match for Modi, she claimed that BJP would get more than 272 seats in the Lok Sabha. When asked if she would contest Lok Sabha election, Bharti said she would contest from any seat the party president Rajnath Singh asks her to do so.
