Cong leader among 5 dead as bus runs over marriage procession

Shahjahanpur, Dec 13: Five persons, including a Congress leader, were killed and seven others injured when a bus ran over a marriage procession in Gangsara area, police said here today.

Former UPPCC member Arun Bajpai (40), and Monu (28) were killed on the spot in the incident last night last night, they said. Three others - Satyaprakash Srivastava (38) Kauashal Kumar (40) and Ramesh Mishra (37) - succumbed to their injuries while being taken to the hospital, they said.

Police said the injured had been referred to Lucknow for treatment. Police said even though they managed to detain the cleaner at the bus and impounded the vehicle the driver managed to flee, they said .
