Cong-JD(S) alliance: Now lobbying for district-in-charge ministers
As H D Kumaraswamy gets set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka for the second time, there is hectic lobbying that continues in the background. There is lobbying not just for the post of a second deputy CM, but for Cabinet berths and district in charge ministers as well.

The Congress and JD(S) MLAs are lobbying for district in charge ministers at Tumakuru, Vijaypura, Mysore, Kolar and Chikkaballapur. There is also lobbying for Cabinet berths for H D Revanna, G T Deve Gowda, S R Mahesh, S C Puttaraju, Bandeppa Kashimpur among others.
Although the Congress high command has made it clear that there would be just one post of deputy CM, lobbying in this regard continues. Many feel that north Karnataka should be given representation. Both Kumaraswamy and Dr. G Parameshwar are from South and the balance is tilted in an unfair manner, they feel.
M B Patil of the Congress had said that he is aspiring for the post, but left it upto the high command. It would be good if someone from north Karnataka gets the post too, he felt. There was also lobbying in favour of Shamanur Shivashankarappa of the Congress. He has the backing of the All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha.
