Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Directs Complete Police Training in New Criminal Laws by March 2025

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a deadline for March 2025 to complete the training of all police personnel. This is to ensure the effective enforcement of three new criminal laws introduced in July 2024. He also stressed the need for swift procurement of necessary equipment to support these laws.

Police Training in New Criminal Laws by March 2025

Officials briefed the chief minister that all IPS and PPS officers, Inspectors-in-Charge/SHOs, and technical staff have been fully trained in these laws. Additionally, 99% of inspectors, 95% of sub-inspectors, and 74% of head constables/constables have completed their training.

Public Awareness and Maha Kumbh 2025

Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the importance of raising public awareness about the new legal provisions. With over 40 crore devotees expected at the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, he proposed an exhibition to promote these laws. He suggested using short videos to educate attendees about their benefits.

The chief minister also instructed officials to leverage social media platforms. This would help highlight significant achievements, such as recent cases where criminals were convicted swiftly.

Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement

The critical role of forensics in implementing the new laws was underscored by Adityanath. Currently, each district has only one forensic mobile van. To bolster this infrastructure, he directed that an additional van be provided in every district promptly.

He emphasised the urgent recruitment of forensic experts, stressing their essential role in law enforcement. He instructed that there should be no delays in hiring these professionals.

Video Conferencing Facilities

The chief minister urged officials to speed up the installation of video conferencing units in prisons. He also insisted that investigators and prosecution officers at all police stations should have access to these facilities.

During the meeting, it was noted that equipment procurement related to the new laws is ongoing. In response, Adityanath directed officials to expedite this process and ensure all purchases are completed by March 2025.

The chief minister's directives aim to ensure efficient law enforcement and public safety through comprehensive training and infrastructure improvements. By March 2025, Uttar Pradesh aims to be fully equipped and prepared for the implementation of its new criminal laws.
