Complaint Filed in MP-MLA Court Against Amit Shah for Controversial Remarks on BR Ambedkar

A legal complaint has been lodged against Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the MP-MLA Court in Sultanpur. The issue stems from remarks he made about BR Ambedkar during a parliamentary session in December. Special Magistrate Shubham Verma has set the hearing for January 15, as per the complainant's lawyer.

Complaint Against Amit Shah Over Ambedkar Remarks

The complainant, Ramkhelavan from Bankepur Saraiya, expressed that Shah's comments were highly offensive and hurtful to many. He stated, "On December 17, 2024, during a Lok Sabha session, Home Minister Amit Shah commented about Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, saying, 'Ambedkar-Ambedkar has become a fashion. If one had taken God's name as much, they would have achieved heaven for seven lifetimes.'"

Complaint Details and Legal Proceedings

Ramkhelavan believes that Amit Shah's words disrespected Ambedkar, who is revered by millions of poor labourers. This prompted him to file a complaint in court, according to his lawyer Jaiprakash. The complainant also approached the Superintendent of Police on December 24, 2024.

Accompanied by members of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Ramkhelavan sought to register a case against the home minister. Despite sending a written request for action via registered mail, no police action was taken. Consequently, he turned to the court for justice.

The case highlights the sensitivity surrounding remarks about historical figures like Ambedkar. The upcoming hearing will determine the legal course of action regarding the complaint against Amit Shah.
