Committed to pass Anti-Superstition Bill in winter session:CM

, Dec 3: Affirming his government's commitment to pass the Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Bill in winter session of Legislature beginning next week, Maharashtra Chief Minister

on Tuesday said talks are still on with those opposing the long-pending legislation.

"The state government is committed to pass the Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Bill in the upcoming winter session in Nagpur," Chavan said after inaugurating the statewide conference on ordinance against superstition and black magic here.

For the smooth implementation of the Bill, the government has also decided to appoint vigilance officers in the state, he said.

"We have held talks with various people including those from the political parties. Some of them have extended their support, while some are still against it," the chief minister said.

He said the government has also registered cases against some people who have violated the Ordinance, which was promulgated after the assassination of anti-superstition crusader Narendra Dabholkar in August this year.
