Cold Wave Alert! Mercury Dips In Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana

Delhi NCR, Punjab, and Haryana are experiencing a severe cold wave, with temperatures dropping to low levels. Residents face ongoing pollution issues as the cold persists.

Delhi NCR, along with Punjab and Haryana, is currently facing a severe cold wave. On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department reported that Delhi's temperature dropped to 4.9 degrees Celsius by 5:30 PM. The cold weather is accompanied by worsening pollution levels, as the Air Quality Index remains in the 'poor category'.

In Punjab, several areas are experiencing freezing temperatures. Gurdaspur recorded a minimum of two degrees Celsius, while Bathinda saw 4.6 degrees Celsius. Pathankot registered 3.5 degrees Celsius, and Amritsar experienced a low of 3.9 degrees Celsius.

Cold Wave Impact in Haryana

Haryana is also under the grip of this cold wave. Hisar recorded a chilling 1.7 degrees Celsius, and Narnaul saw temperatures drop to three degrees Celsius. Bhiwani experienced a low of four degrees Celsius, while Gurugram logged 5.6 degrees Celsius.

The situation in Rohtak and Ambala was similar, with temperatures at 5.2 and 5.7 degrees Celsius respectively. Chandigarh, serving as the shared capital for both Haryana and Punjab, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8 degrees Celsius.

Weather Forecast for Delhi

The Pusa Observatory in Delhi noted a significant drop in temperature to 3.8 degrees Celsius, five degrees lower than usual. Narela recorded five degrees Celsius on Sunday evening as well.

The cold wave is expected to persist in the coming days across these regions. In Delhi, temperatures are forecasted to remain below five degrees Celsius with foggy conditions likely to prevail.

As residents brace for more chilly nights ahead, they continue to deal with pollution issues alongside the cold weather challenges.
