CM Yogi Orders Statewide Probe Into College Accreditation, Admissions

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday ordered a comprehensive probe into the accreditation and admission processes of all universities, colleges, and educational institutions in the state. The move aims to bring transparency and accountability to the higher education sector.

Special Probe Teams in Every Division

Divisional commissioners have been directed to constitute special investigation teams, comprising senior administrative officers, police officials, and education department representatives. These teams will conduct inspections at the district level to verify the authenticity of accreditations and admission procedures.

Mandatory Disclosures

All institutions must submit affidavits declaring that they are offering only recognised courses. They are also required to furnish accreditation certificates and a list of all ongoing courses. CM Yogi stressed that no student should be admitted to unrecognised programmes under any circumstances.

Strict Penalties for Irregularities

Institutions found guilty of running unapproved courses or making illegal admissions will face legal action. They will also have to refund fees collected from students, along with interest.

15-Day Deadline

District-level inquiries are to begin immediately, with consolidated reports to be submitted to the state government within 15 days. The entire process will be monitored by divisional commissioners.

CM Yogi warned officials that any negligence or leniency will not be tolerated, calling the exercise a "critical initiative" tied to the future of students and the overall quality of education in the state.
