The visit will see the launch of initiatives that combine heritage preservation with commercial development, while also aiming to provide relief to traders affected by the city's ongoing heritage corridor works.

Ahead of the Chief Minister's programme, Mayor Dr Manglesh Kumar Srivastava and Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal inspected the preparations on Saturday.

Heritage projects and commercial development on CM's agenda

During his Gorakhpur visit, CM Yogi will inaugurate the beautification of the historic Ghantaghar memorial, a site associated with memories from India's freedom struggle. He will also inaugurate the multilevel parking and commercial complex built in the name of Amar Balidani Bandhu Singh, a project designed to improve parking infrastructure while supporting commercial activity in the area.

In addition to the inauguration, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for a new commercial complex in the Pandeyhata Heritage Corridor. Officials say the projects are part of a broader effort to preserve Gorakhpur's historic identity while strengthening employment opportunities and organised urban growth.

Sarafa traders welcome rehabilitation move

Before the inauguration and foundation stone ceremony, members of the Sarafa trading community expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the rehabilitation arrangements made for displaced traders.

Sarafa Mandal Gorakhpur president Ganesh Verma said, "Allocating shops in the shopping complex built for the rehabilitation of Sarafa traders displaced by the multilevel parking construction is a commendable step. This will boost business."

The statement reflects the traders' optimism that the newly created commercial spaces will help restore business activity for those impacted by the redevelopment works.

New Pandeyhata commercial complex to have 65 shops

CM Yogi will also lay the foundation stone for a new commercial complex and basement in the Pandeyhata Heritage Corridor at a cost of ₹34.43 crore.

According to project details, the upcoming complex will feature:

  • 65 shops
  • Basement parking for 28 cars in the initial phase
  • A second basement section with capacity for 54 cars and 68 two-wheelers

Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal said that once the complex is completed, traders affected by the Heritage Corridor project will be shifted and accommodated there in a more organised manner.

Multilevel parking complex at Bandhu Singh Park ready for inauguration

As part of the city's ambitious Heritage Corridor plan, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate a major multilevel parking and commercial complex at Bandhu Singh Park near Ghantaghar, built at a cost of ₹27.26 crore.

The facility has been developed to ease traffic and parking pressure while also supporting traders displaced by redevelopment work. Key features of the project include:

  • Parking for 50 cars
  • Parking for 200 two-wheelers
  • 43 shops, which will be allotted to affected traders on a priority basis

Officials said the complex also highlights episodes linked to freedom fighters, reinforcing the historical significance of the site.

Another notable feature is the integration of the ancient Sheetla Mata Temple, which was already located in Bandhu Singh Park. The temple has now been properly accommodated on the ground floor of the newly built complex, and CM Yogi is expected to offer prayers there during the event.

Gorakhpur Journalists Press Club oath ceremony on Monday

Separately, the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected executive body of the Gorakhpur Journalists Press Club will be held on Monday at 10 am at Gorakhpur Club.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend the event as the chief guest, while Mayor Dr Manglesh Srivastava will administer the oath to the newly elected office-bearers.
