CM Adityanath Ensures Fair Land Acquisition Process for Noida Airport

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected the construction site of Noida International Airport in Jewar on Tuesday. He addressed land acquisition issues and instructed officials to prevent outsiders from misleading villagers about the process. The chief minister reviewed the ongoing work and issued directives for timely completion.

Land Acquisition and Connectivity

During a review meeting with district administration, local authorities, and company officials, Adityanath emphasized resolving land acquisition issues peacefully. He urged senior officials to communicate with villagers facing difficulties. Additionally, he suggested using the expertise of the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) for land acquisition.

The chief minister stressed the importance of strong connectivity to the airport. He called for an action plan to complete rail, metro, and other transport facilities by the time the airport is operational. Adityanath also highlighted the need for multi-level parking facilities to avoid inconvenience for passengers.

Project Timeline and Phases

The foundation stone of the airport was laid in November 2021. Initially, operations were expected to start by September this year after completing the first phase. However, in June, the developer announced that flights could be expected around April 2025. The first phase will cover 1,300 hectares, eventually expanding to over 5,000 hectares in four phases, making it the largest airport in India.

Officials stated that most of the runway work is complete. The first phase will include one terminal, one runway, 10 aerobridges, and 25 parking stands. Check-in kiosks, self-service bag drops, and e-gates are currently being tested. The airport is being developed by Zurich International Airport AG's special purpose vehicle Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL).

High-Quality Standards and Future Capacity

Adityanath emphasized maintaining high-quality standards while adhering to the timeline for completion. He instructed that any construction issues should be promptly communicated to the state government for resolution. "These transportation links should be ready by the time the airport is completed," he stated.

Once all four phases are completed, the airport will handle up to 70 million passengers annually. The concession period for the airport began on October 1, 2021, and will last for 40 years. YIAPL CEO Christoph Schnellmann mentioned significant interest from domestic and international carriers.

During the review meeting, notable attendees included Gautam Buddh Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma, UP Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, and officials from companies constructing the airport.

The chief minister's visit underscores his commitment to ensuring timely completion and addressing any challenges that arise during construction.
