Cloudburst In Doda District Triggers Flash Flood; 3 Dead

At least three people have been killed in the Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir after being hit by a cloudburst on Tuesday, triggering flash floods that damaged more than 15 houses.

This is the latest in a series of similar extreme weather events to hit the region, following recent calamities in the neighboring districts of Kathua and Kishtwar.

Authorities confirmed that no lives have been lost so far. However, the situation remains critical as major rivers, including the Tawi, are flowing above danger levels, with officials warning of a significant rise in water through the night.

The cloudburst came amid a weather department alert predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across several Jammu districts. As a precautionary measure, all government and private schools across the Jammu division were ordered shut for the day.

The severe weather has also disrupted vital travel. Landslides and falling rocks forced officials to suspend all traffic on the key Jammu-Srinagar national highway, cutting off a major link in the region.
