Clean Yamuna along with Ganga: NGO asks Modi govt

The plan to cleanse Yamuna should be taken up by the government as the two rivers meet in Allahabad and therefore Ganga cannot become clean without cleaning Yamuna, said Jaykrishan Das, National President, Yamuna Rakshak Dal.
In the recently-concluded Lok Sabha polls, Modi had vigorously mentioned about cleaning River Ganga during his campaign and in his post-poll victory speech in Varanasi. Das also said that after winning a majority in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has mentioned Ganga many times but there has not been a single mention of Yamuna.
So it is our appeal that the government also prioritise cleaning of Yamuna along with Ganga as these are sister rivers, Das said.
