Citing Karnataka Assembly Polls, Pilot Jabs at Gehlot Over Corruption During BJP Rule

Congress leader Sachin Pilot, who launched 'Jan Sangharsh Yatra' on Thursday, has taken a swipe at his own government again for failing to take action against the previous BJP government on corruption and said his party should learn from the Karnataka Assembly polls.

Citing Karnataka Assembly Polls, Pilot Jabs at Gehlot Over Corruption During BJP Rule

"We are winning in Karnataka because we levelled allegations of "40% commission Govt" against CM Bommai and people trusted us. We had done the same in Rajasthan. But if we don't work on it within 4.5 years, how will we make ourselves credible before people? I neither harbour a sense of vengeance nor am I against any person. This yatra is against corruption and in the interest of youth. What will we tell people if we go to polls six months from now?" ANI quoted him as saying.

Ahead of the assembly elections in Rajasthan, Pilot kicked off a 125-kilometre foot march from Ajmer to Jaipur, challenging Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the Congress top brass.

It comes days after Gehlot accused the MLAs involved in the 2020 revolt of taking money from the BJP. It may be recalled that Pilot and 18 other Congress MLAs had then sought a leadership change in Rajasthan.

However, he was sacked as the party's state unit president and the deputy chief minister.

Pilot and Gehlot have been at loggerheads over the post of Chief Minister ever since the party formed the government in 2018.

Last month, the Tonk MLA held a day-long fast, targeting his own party's government in Rajasthan for "inaction" in alleged cases of corruption when the BJP was in power.

Days ago, Pilot took a sharp jibe at the Rajasthan Chief Minister, saying that his speech in Dholpur showed his leader "is not Sonia Gandhi but Vasundhara Raje Scindia".

Gehlot had claimed that former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje was among BJP leaders who helped him save his government during the revolt by Pilot and some Congress MLAs in 2020 seeking change in leadership in the state.

"After listening to Ashok Gehlot's speech in Dholpur, it seems like his leader is not Sonia Gandhi but Vasundhara Raje Scindia... For the first time, I am seeing someone criticize MPs and MLAs of their own party. Praising leaders from BJP and dishonouring Congress leaders is beyond my understanding, this is absolutely wrong," PZZTI quoted Pilot as saying.

"I have now understood why the CM (Ashok Gehlot) has not acted against corruption," he added.
