CID team at Tarapith after rape and murder of minor dalit girl

Suri (West Bengal), Jun 4: A CID team from Kolkata today reached the temple town of Tarapith in Birbhum district to probe the alleged rape and murder of a minor dalit girl.

The six member team, headed by Special Superintendent of Police, CID, Chirantan Nag, met the girl's parents and the local police.

Nag later told newsmen that the probe was in its initial stages and a detailed report would be submitted after full investigation.

The body of the girl, a fifth standard student, was recovered yesterday from a field near her house, a police official said.

The family members alleged that the girl was kidnapped from the room where she was asleep with her grandmother and her brother. The father of the girl is a daily labourer and they belong to dalit Mal community.
