Tragic Fire at Jhansi Medical College Claims Lives of 10 Children
A tragic fire incident occurred at the children's ward of Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 children. The fire broke out around 10:45 p.m. on Friday night, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). District Magistrate Avinash Kumar informed reporters that children located in the outer section of the NICU were successfully rescued, along with some from the inner area. "Prima facie there is information of the death of 10 children," he stated. The fire brigade and senior district officers promptly arrived at the scene to manage the situation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has acknowledged the incident and instructed local authorities to ensure that those injured receive appropriate medical care. He also expressed his wishes for their swift recovery.
In addition, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who is also the state's health minister, along with the principal secretary of health, have been dispatched to Jhansi following directives from the Chief Minister.
