Police: Child found murdered, 'sacrifice' angle not ruled out
Arun went missing under mysterious circumstances when he was playing near his house on Sunday afternoon during 'Dussehra' festival in Ahmedpur village in Sirsa district, about 320 km from here.
The child's body was found in a sack on Monday, Sirsa district police chief Sourabh Singh said.
"The body was found from the roof of the house of a neighbour where the child lived. He bore sharp injuries on his face. We have registered a case and we have questioned several people. We have got definite clues and are hopeful to nab the killer(s) soon," Singh said over phone.
The boy's body bore sharp cuts and marks
When asked that local villagers had raised strong suspicion that it could be a case of "sacrificial killing" and some 'tantrik' could be behind it, Singh said, "we are not ruling out that possibility as of now. However, at this stage, we cannot say this for sure and further investigations will help throw more light on the crime".
Asked about the child's family background, police chief said, "Boy's parents live in a small one-room building and work on a farm."
