Majhi Calls for Central Support to Forge a Developed Odisha by 2036
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday urged senior officers from Odisha, working in various central government departments, to assist in building a New Odisha by 2036. This initiative marks the state's 100th year of formation. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi after meeting with Odisha cadre IAS and other senior officers on central deputation, Majhi stressed the state's mission to become developed by 2047, aligning with India's 100 years of Independence.

The meeting saw the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and other senior Odisha government officials. The state government is operating on a mission mode, implementing a 100-day action plan, a five-year plan, a 12-year programme leading up to 2036, and a vision extending to 2047, Majhi said.
Collaboration for Development
Majhi highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Centre and the state to achieve the goal of a developed Odisha. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Purvodaya plan has given special significance to Odisha, opening up vast opportunities for the state.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued a press statement emphasising Majhi's call for cooperation from officers to expedite proposals presented at the NITI Aayog governing council meeting on Saturday. The CM underscored that with cooperation and coordination between the Centre and the state in all these areas, the goal of building a developed Odisha can be achieved.
Infrastructure and Financial Inclusion
Majhi sought central government support for establishing industrial corridors and parks, securing sufficient funds and necessary clearances for railway and airport infrastructure projects, creating disaster-resilient infrastructure, developing hydro storage plants, and promoting financial inclusion through bank branches and ATMs in unbanked areas.
The state government is working on multiple fronts to ensure progress. This includes implementing a 100-day action plan, a five-year plan, a 12-year programme leading up to 2036, and a vision extending to 2047. These plans are aimed at transforming Odisha into a developed state by its centenary year.
Majhi's appeal comes as part of broader efforts to align with India's centenary celebrations of independence in 2047. The CM believes that with the right support from central officers and departments, these ambitious goals can be realised.
