Chief Imam Faces Fatwa For Attending Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration

All India Imam Organization chief Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi has allegedly been targeted with a fatwa for attending the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ram Lalla at Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

The Imam revealed that the fatwa was issued on Sunday, and he has been receiving threat calls since the Ram Temple event.

Chief Imam Faces Fatwa and Threats

Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi informed that as a Chief Imam, he had been invited by Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra on Monday, reported ANI. He revealed that after contemplating for two days, the decision to attend the Ayodhya ceremony for harmony and the country was made.

According to him, the fatwa was issued on Sunday, and since the evening of January 22, he had been receiving threat calls. The Islamic cleric asserted that he has been facing protests and threats since attending the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. Recorded calls containing life threats were mentioned, and he expressed that those who love him and the nation would support him, according to News 18.

Additionally, he stated that he did not commit any crime by spreading a message of love and harmony. He declared that neither an apology nor a resignation would be given, emphasizing that others could take whatever action they wished. On January 22, Dr Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi attended the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya, emphasizing the importance of spreading love and harmony.

He asserted that the nation is the priority, defining it as the face of the new India, where humanity is considered the foremost religion. The Pran Pratishtha ceremony, which featured the unveiling of the Ram Lalla idol, took place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Rituals were conducted inside the sanctorum during the ceremony.
