‘Chicken Neck’ Security Threatened Due To Vote Bank Politics In West Bengal: Amit Shah

Amit Shah on Saturday intensified his attack on Mamata Banerjee, accusing her government of failing to maintain law and order in West Bengal. Speaking in Kolkata, Shah alleged that the state's governance has weakened under the Trinamool Congress (TMC), raising concerns over both internal security and political stability.

The Union Home Minister also raised concerns about illegal infiltration into India through West Bengal. He claimed that the state remains a key entry point for infiltrators, which, according to him, poses a threat to national security.

Shah said that this issue not only affects security but also impacts local workers, as infiltrators compete for jobs and resources. He questioned whether the state government was taking enough steps to address the problem.

'Charge Sheet' Against TMC Government

During his address, Shah presented what he described as a "charge sheet" against the TMC government. In it, he accused the ruling party of corruption and mismanagement, alleging that public resources have been misused.

He also claimed that West Bengal has become a centre of corruption under the current administration, adding that people in the state are increasingly aware of these issues.

Criticism Over 'Victim Politics'

Shah further accused Mamata Banerjee of playing what he called "victim politics." He alleged that she often presents herself as a victim and criticises institutions like the Election Commission of India.

According to Shah, such actions undermine democratic institutions and are not in line with India's political culture. He said that voters in West Bengal are now able to see through these tactics.

BJP's Promise Ahead of Elections

Looking ahead to the elections, Shah expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party would come to power in the state. He said that if elected, the BJP government would take strong steps to stop infiltration and improve border security.

He also promised that measures such as fencing would be strengthened within a short time to address security concerns.

West Bengal Elections Schedule

The upcoming West Bengal assembly elections will be held in two phases, on April 23 and April 29. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
