Chhattisgarh Ex-CM Bhupesh Baghel, Other Commuters Get Stuck In A Plane For 40 Minutes Due To Technical Fault

An unexpected technical issue at Raipur airport on June 18 left passengers of an IndiGo flight from Delhi stranded for nearly 40 minutes. The aircraft's gate jammed after landing, preventing disembarkation. The flight, which landed on schedule at 2:25 pm, included notable passengers such as former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, MLA Chaturi Nand, and Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey.

According to sources at the airport, a technical fault kept the aircraft door locked, trapping passengers inside. Ground staff and engineers were promptly summoned to address the malfunction. After about 40 minutes of effort, they successfully opened the gate, allowing all passengers to exit safely. Fortunately, there were no injuries or medical emergencies reported during this incident.

Emergency Landing in Nagpur

In a separate incident on Tuesday, an IndiGo flight bound for Delhi had to make an emergency landing at Nagpur Airport due to a bomb threat. The flight was carrying 157 passengers and six crew members. Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) reported receiving the threat through its official email shortly after the plane departed from Kochi at 9:31 am.

The flight originated in Muscat and was heading to Delhi with a scheduled stopover in Kochi. Upon receiving the threat email, airport authorities immediately notified security agencies. Taking the situation seriously, they diverted the aircraft to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, where it landed without incident.

Security Measures and Investigation

All passengers were safely evacuated from the plane with no injuries reported. An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed that a "security concern" prompted the emergency landing and stated that standard aviation security protocols were followed promptly by informing authorities.

A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened following the emergency landing. The threat was considered specific, prompting thorough security checks. IndiGo has pledged full cooperation with ongoing investigations to ensure passenger safety.
