Chhattisgarh: Amit Jogi under EC scanner

In an application for an Indian citizenship on December 15, 2001, he mentioned that he was born on August 7, 1977 in Dallas Texas in USA. Just a year later on August 2002, he applied for a Chhattisgarh domicile certificate, saying that he was born on August 7, 1978 at Ppendra village in Bilaspur. Basing on this, the Raipur collector issued the same the very day.
A similar incident happened when he applied for a scheduled tribe certificate, where he marked his birth year as 1977, but his place of birth as Bilaspur. Following this, a confused and embarassed Congress assured a thorough investigation. However, the BJP is unwilling to let go so easily. Naturally, the question that arises in one's mind is how Amit benefitted from his 'shifting' birthplace and time.
