Feuding Chhattisgarh Congress Leaders Consult State Chief for Resolution

In a recent development within the Indian National Congress in Chhattisgarh, a meeting took place involving AICC spokesperson Radhika Khera, Chhattisgarh Congress communication wing chairperson Sushil Anand Shukla, and the state unit chief Deepak Baij. This gathering, held at Rajiv Bhavan, the party's state office in Raipur, comes amid reports of a disagreement between Khera and Shukla.

Congress Leaders Seek Dispute Resolution

Deepak Baij disclosed that he conducted separate discussions with both Khera and Shukla, aiming to understand the situation better. He announced his intention to compile a report for the central leadership of the Congress party. Baij emphasized that the resolution of this dispute rests with the party leaders in Delhi, who will ascertain the facts and decide on the matter.

When approached by media personnel, Radhika Khera mentioned her conversation with the state president but opted to withhold details until a scheduled press conference. The conflict reportedly stemmed from an altercation on April 30 at the party office, concerning the visit of senior leader Pawan Khera scheduled for the following day.

Khera expressed her discontent through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), hinting at gender discrimination and asserting her resolve to expose the truth. This was followed by a video circulating on social media where Khera is overheard expressing her intention to resign from the party due to being insulted and shouted at, an incident she described as unprecedented in her 40-year tenure.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seized upon this incident to criticize the Congress for allegedly disrespecting women leaders within its ranks. This internal discord within the Congress party in Chhattisgarh has sparked considerable attention, highlighting issues of leadership and gender sensitivity within political organizations.

The outcome of this situation remains to be seen as the central leadership of the Congress party deliberates on the report to be submitted by Deepak Baij. The incident underscores the challenges political parties face in managing internal conflicts and maintaining a respectful environment for all members.
