Chhath Puja 2024 Bank Holiday: In These States Banks Will Be Closed On November 7 and 8

In November 2024, several states in India will experience bank holidays due to Chhath Puja, with closures spanning from November 7 to 10. This period includes the regular weekend shutdowns as well. On November 7, banks in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, and Bengal will be closed for the Chhath Puja Evening Arghya.

Chhath Puja and Other November Holidays

The following day, November 8, sees banks shut in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya for Chhath Puja Morning Arghya and Wangala Festival. The Reserve Bank of India's website lists numerous holidays in November 2024. These include Diwali Amavasya, Kut festival, Kannada Rajyothsava, Balipadyami, Vikram Samvant New Year Day, Egaas-Bagwaal, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Karthika Purnima, Rahas Purnima, Kanakadasa Jayanti, and Seng Kutsnem.

On November 9 and 10, banks nationwide will remain closed due to the second Saturday and Sunday closures. Uttarakhand observes Egaas-Bagwaal on November 12. On November 15, multiple states including Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh observe Guru Nanak Jayanti and other festivals.

State-Specific Closures

Karnataka celebrates Kanakadasa Jayanti on November 18 with bank closures. Meghalaya marks Seng Kutsnem on November 23. These holidays reflect the diverse cultural celebrations across India during this month.

Despite these closures at physical branches, online banking services remain operational. Customers are encouraged to register for digital banking services to ensure uninterrupted access to their accounts during these holidays.
