Chhangur Baba Claimed To Be RSS Member, Used PM Modi's Pic
Jamaluddin also known as Chhangur Baba is at the center of a significant religious conversion scandal in Uttar Pradesh. He allegedly posed as a senior member of an RSS-affiliated group during meetings with officials. Investigators revealed that he used Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photo on the organisation's letterhead to bolster his claims.
Allegations and Investigations
The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has charged Chhangur Baba with planning to establish a terrorist training camp using foreign funds. Allegedly, he received over Rs 500 crore from international sources, including Gulf countries and possibly Pakistan. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is examining these financial aspects.

Chhangur Baba was appointed as the general secretary (Awadh) of Bharat Pratikarth Seva Sangh, an organisation run by Eidul Islam, another key suspect. The name was deliberately chosen to suggest a connection with the RSS. Islam even set up a fake centre in Nagpur to enhance the group's credibility.
Financial Misconduct
The ED has discovered evidence of money laundering worth Rs 60 crore while investigating 22 bank accounts linked to Chhangur Baba and his associates. Additionally, they found that he owned properties valued at over Rs 100 crore in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, mainly on encroached government land.
Chhangur Baba's arrest earlier this month exposed his alleged involvement in orchestrating large-scale religious conversions. His targets were primarily minor girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The Special Task Force (STF) is actively investigating these claims.
Property Acquisitions
Documents obtained by the ED reveal Chhangur Baba's connection to a Panama-based company called 'Logos Marine'. They also uncovered that he acquired a complex named 'Ranwal Greens' in Mumbai through a dubious transaction. These findings are part of the ongoing investigation into his financial dealings.
During meetings with officials and political leaders, both Chhangur Baba and Islam frequently mentioned prominent RSS figures to lend credibility to their supposed affiliations. This tactic was used to create an illusion of legitimacy for their activities.
The investigation also uncovered Islam's involvement in illegal land purchases in villages by colluding with local administration officials.
