Chhattisgarh: Ajit Jogi's son and wife given Assembly tickets

New Delhi, Oct 23: Congress has proved itself as a 'family-party' yet again. Amit and Renu Jogi, the son and wife of former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi are among the 45 candidates selected for the assembly polls in the state. While Amit has been nominated from Marwahi-ST that was earlier represented by his father, his mother has been nominated from Kota.

Arun Vohra, the son of Motilal Vohra who is also the AICC treasurer, along with Amitesh Shukla, son of late Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shyamcharam Shukla have also been nominated by Congress.

Arun has been nominated from the Durg City, while Amit stands from Rajim. Among the re-nominations were Ravindra Choubey, who is the leader of the Opposition, senior leader of the state TS Singhdeo and PCC coordinator Bhupesh Baghel.

Chhattisgarh has a 90-member house, out of which 17 candidates have already been declared in the first list and candidates for the second list still remain to be listed.

The first list also mentioned the names of the family members of the 3 senior party leaders killed in the Maoist ambush of May 25. Umesh Patel, who is the son of slain state party unit chief Nand Kumar Patel and the brother of Dinesh Patel (also killed in the Maoist ambush), Devti Karma, wife of late Mahendra Karma and Alka Mudaliyar, former MLA Uday Mudaliyar's wife have been given tickets for the Assembly Polls.

While Umesh will fight from the Kharsia sear, Devti Kharma will stand from the Dantewada seat.
