Chennai: Woman commits suicide over daughter's love marriage

Theni(Tamil Nadu), July 31: Unable to bear her daughter's marriage with her cousin brother, a 45-year-old woman allegedly commited suicide today at nearby Chinnamanur, police said.

Her 23-year-old daughter fell in love with one Ilayaraja (27), while working in private companies in Coimbatore and Tiruppur and got married two days ago after one year of courtship.

Shocked on coming to know about the news, the woman consumed some poisonous substance. She died at the hospital without responding to treatment, police said. Demanding action against Ilayaraja's relatives, the woman's relatives gheraoed police officials, they said.
