Chennai: DMK beats AIDMK in number of donations

Chennai, Dec 8: The AIDMK had one donor in the year 2013-2014 who contributed Rs 1,03,42,209.

The information provided by the Association for Democratic Reforms states that in the year 2013-2014 a person by the name Anna Thozirrsanga had made a cheque payment and as per the declaration of the party made before the Income Tax Department and the Election Commission of India, the payment was towards party development.

The statement for the years 2012-2013 show the donations as nil, but in the year 2011 and 2012 the amount donated by Dharani Hi Tech Projects (P) Ltd via cheque number 927416 was RS 10,06,000.

During the same year Thiru Saidai Duraiswamy Act a resident of CID nagar in Chennai through DD number 477177 had donated an amount of Rs 52 lakh.

The highest donation as per the statement was Rs 2,00,07,000 in the year 2010-2011. The donation was made by Anna Thozhir Sanga Perovval of Royapetah, Chennai vide cheque number 967412.

Year wise break up- AIDMK:

In the year 2013-14 the donation amount was at Rs 1 crore and there was one donor. In the previous year it was nil. For the years 2011-12 there were two donors who contributed Rs 62 lakh. The year prior saw donations from five persons to the tune of 2,52,19,000.

In 2009-2010 there were donations of Rs 5 lakh by one donor and in 2008-09 three donors contributed a total of Rs 21 lakh.

For years 2007-08 the donations were at Rs 1 lakh by one donor while the previous year one donor contributed Rs 5 lakh.

In 2004-05 in all 23 donors contributed Rs 5 lakh and in the previous year there were 17 donors with a contribution of Rs 6 lakh. Between 2003 and 2014 the total donors were at 55 who have in all donated Rs 4 crore.

Donors of the DMK:

The donations for the DMK in the year 2013-2014 was Rs 78,79,96,698. The total number of donors was at 259 with an average donation of Rs 30 lakh. In the year 2012-2013 a total of 201 donors contributed Rs 25 crore.

For the years 2011-12 there were 7 donors who contributed Rs 3 crore while in 2010--11 319 donors contributed Rs 4 crore.

For the years 2009-10 the donations were at Rs 4 crore and the contributors were 21 while in 2008 and 2009 it was at Rs 1 crore with 4 donors. Between 2008 and 2014 the DMK has had donations of Rs 119 crore by 811 donors.

The highest contributor was Thiru Periasami with a donation of Rs 6,01,00,000. The payment was made on June 7 2013 through RTGS. The second highest contribution came from E V Velu.

He contributed Rs 4 crore through cheque number 358795. Third on the list was M R K Pannerselvam with a contribution of Rs 3,42,00,000 which was made through RTGS.
