Uttarakhand News: CM Dhami Finalizes Strict Action Plan for Char Dham Yatra 2026

Uttarakhand's Char Dham Yatra 2026 will operate under a comprehensive safety and management framework. The plan includes strict SOPs for heli services, a Green & Clean initiative, real-time weather monitoring, digital crowd management, online registration, CCTV and AI monitoring, robust disaster preparedness, and enhanced infrastructure to ensure safe, environmentally friendly pilgrimages.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has finalized a comprehensive and strict action plan for the Char Dham Yatra 2026, emphasizing safety, cleanliness, and improved management for pilgrims arriving from across India and abroad.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed officials to prioritize human sensitivity over commercial interests, particularly in heli services. He asserted that ensuring the safety and convenience of pilgrims is a "personal responsibility" of the administration.

Highlighting the importance of sustainability, Dhami instructed that the "Green & Clean Char Dham Yatra" campaign be strengthened further. A complete ban on plastic use will be enforced, with collection boxes installed at multiple points along the yatra routes. He also warned of strict action, including FIRs, against anyone spreading misinformation or fake news related to the pilgrimage.

The Chief Minister stressed strict adherence to SOPs in heli services, mandating regular maintenance, fitness checks, and adequate rest periods to avoid overloading. Real-time weather monitoring systems will also be enhanced to manage emergencies effectively.

To improve pilgrim experience, the government will deploy digital monitoring systems and implement a slot-based crowd management mechanism. Online registration will be strengthened with additional counters and simplified processes. CCTV surveillance and AI-based monitoring systems will be installed along the routes for enhanced security.

In terms of infrastructure, Dhami directed officials to ensure the availability of essential services, including healthcare, drinking water, sanitation, and shelter facilities. Temporary hospitals and medical units will be deployed along the yatra routes, along with expanded veterinary services. Clean drinking water supply will be ensured through CSR initiatives and other resources.

The administration has also been instructed to maintain uninterrupted supply of LPG, petrol, diesel, and other essential commodities, with daily monitoring by nodal officers. Shops along the route must display rate lists to prevent overcharging, and strict action will be taken against violators.

A robust traffic management plan, including alternative routes, will be implemented to prevent congestion and ensure smooth movement for both pilgrims and local residents. Police personnel and home guards will be deployed at key locations to maintain law and order.

For disaster preparedness, vulnerable zones will be identified in advance, and coordination between State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local authorities will be strengthened. A 24x7 control room and helpline will be operational for immediate response during emergencies.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to improve road conditions, repair potholes, and enhance route beautification with signage, selfie points, and themed installations. He emphasized community participation, encouraging involvement of local bodies, NGOs, and youth to make the yatra a mass movement.

The meeting was attended by senior ministers, officials, and district magistrates of the concerned districts, who were instructed to ensure strict implementation of all guidelines and continuous monitoring throughout the yatra period. With these measures, the Uttarakhand government aims to make Char Dham Yatra 2026 more organized, safe, environmentally sustainable, and technologically advanced.
